How to Prevent Chlorine Damage to Your Hair

Summer has finally arrived and the weather keeps getting warmer. Prevent Chlorine Damage, Scizzors, Shrewsbury, MAA fun way to escape rising temperatures is to go for a swim in the pool. However, too much swimming can cause chlorine damage to your hair. And no, we’re not making a joke about your hair turning green. Although discoloration and bleaching can occur, frequent exposure to chlorine can also cause hair to become overly dry, frizzy, and easily tangled or matted. If any of those side effects sound unpleasant, you might want to brush up on some of the ways to prevent chlorine damage to your hair.

Heightened Risks of Chlorine Damage:

Obviously, anyone who swims often will need to take precautions to prevent chlorine damage, but there are many other factors that can put you at an even higher risk. If you have chemically treated hair, color treated hair, thin, or dry hair, you will want to be sure that you know how to prevent chlorine damage to your hair.

5 Steps to Prevent Chlorine Damage to Your Hair:

Fortunately, there are several easy tips to help prevent chlorine damage to your hair that do not have to involve desperate measures (i.e. swimming caps or staying out of the water).

  1. Thoroughly wet your hair with tap water before getting into the pool. If you saturate it completely, your hair will not absorb nearly as much pool water. This is one of the simplest ways to prevent chlorine damage to your hair.
  2. If your hair is long enough, try putting it a bun, ponytail, or braid. These styles will limit the amount of hair that the water is able to penetrate.
  3. After you have finished swimming, rinse out your hair as soon as possible. This will help wash away some of the chlorine.
  4. Shampoo your hair as soon as possible after you leave the pool. Shampoos will remove the majority of chemical buildup and prevent chlorine damage to your hair.
  5. Condition your hair after swimming. Conditioner will restore moisture and protein that the pool’s chemicals may have stripped away from your hair.

Additional Tips to Prevent Chlorine Damage to Your Hair for Long Term Swimmers:

If you’re going to be spending a great deal of time in the water every day for the next few weeks or months, you might want to take extra measures to prevent chlorine damage to your hair.

  • If possible, leave the pool every so often and rinse out your hair with tap water again. Not only does this wash away the chlorine, it will also make sure that your hair remains saturated with non-chlorinated water.
  • Condition your hair before getting into the water. It might sound excessive, but this will provide an extra layer of protection that will greatly prevent chlorine damage to your hair.

It’s a relief to know that you don’t have to choose between having healthy hair and your time at the pool, isn’t it? Follow these steps to prevent chlorine damage to your hair and you will be sure to keep your hair healthy and beautiful all summer long.

Give Back to Your Hair with Arrojo Products

Healthy hair has a new meaning today. Straighteners, blow dryers, curlers, sprays, highlights, and other chemicals slowly deteriorate healthy hair. Arrojo Products explained by ScizzorsSo how do you protect your hair? Arrojo products. Arrojo products give back to what the hair, and the consumer, wants.

“We’re living in a new age of consumer awareness,” Nick Arrojo states in his article, releasing his new line of SHINE LUXE. Buyers want products that are good for the hair, free to sulfates and other color fading chemicals. The latest lineup of products created by Nick Arrojo is “exceedingly kind to hair.”

Arrojo products have seamlessly created high quality lines that work with hair to look great and give back. The SHINE LUXE line is packed with essential nutrients such as macadamia oil, grape seed oil, cocoa butter, and keratin. These nutrients work to repair hair, bring moisture, create manageability, add polish, infuse softness, build strength, and protect color.

Arrojo products are one of the few lines left that design their products around what the hair actually needs. Not only do Arrojo products work to nourish hair, but they also cater to various hair types. The complete line of Arrojo products works for all types of hair whether it be frizzy, pin-straight, washed daily, colored-treated, Keratin-treated, dull, dry, or damaged.

Arrojo products are the jack-of-all-trades. In each of their lines, Arrojo works to incorporate oils and natural ingredients, vital to healthy hair.

Arrojo Products for Color-Treated Hair:

The Color Save Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect to preserve color-treated hair. The Vitamin B5 works to protect color, simultaneously locking in “vibrancy” and shine. The conditioner works to “give improved body, more elasticity, and increased smoothness.” Although this is the best line for color-treated hair, there are also other options by Arrojo that work to preserve color-treated hair.

Sulfate-Free Arrojo Products:

The sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner is generally for all hair types. If you’re looking for a shampoo that’s particularly gentle on the hair, this is your pick. The gentle shampoo and conditioner is made with Vitamin B5, coconut, avocado and sesame seed oil. The shampoo has a touch of honey, while the conditioner is infused with natural ingredients such as pumpkin, rosemary. Most sulfate-free shampoos don’t give a nice lather. However, the gentle shampoo from Arrojo gives a rich, thick, and full foam when washing.

Daily Shampoo & Conditioner from Arrojo

Nick Arrojo calls the Daily Shampoo his “Signature Shampoo.” The Vitamin B5 works to give you a clean and healthy wash. It’s a gentle Arrojo product for those who like to wash their hair every day. The Daily Conditioner is a perfect companion to the Daily Shampoo. It’s a light conditioner that doesn’t weigh your hair down, although it still gives you a great conditioning. The Daily Conditioner can also be used as a leave-in conditioner to “wear your hair more natural, or even increase the curl.” The Daily Shampoo and Conditioner can be used on any hair type, but works great for dry, damaged, thick, or color-treated hair.

Arrojo Products for Moisture Deprived Hair:

The Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner contain two key ingredients that work to infuse moisture with hair. The Vitamin B5 and coconut oil in Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner help bind moisturize to the hair for repair. Nick Arrojo says he uses the line when, “the hair is feeling dry, or it is old because it is on the longer side.” It is important to apply the Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner evenly because it “contains a lot of moisturizing ingredients.” This makes it a lot thicker than the rest of the shampoos and conditioners. When applying, make sure to rub the shampoo evenly across your palm. When applying conditioner, make sure to leave in for about 3 minutes for a full effect. This shampoo works great to replenish dry hair with the moisture it’s dying for.

Other Arrojo Products:

Aside from the SHINE LUXE line created by Arrojo, their ReFINISH Dry Shampoo is one of their “hero products.” Arrojo Dry Shampoo adds “wow-factor texture and volume to any style.” It works by cleaning hair without water, soaking up excess oils and buildups. Leaving the right amount of natural oils allows hair to have a brighter shine. Natural ingredients in the ReFINISH line from Arrojo include Aloe Vera, Ginger, and Wheat Proteins. These nutrients moisturize, shine, and strengthen the hair. ReFINISH from Arrojo saves time when styling in the morning, helps repair damaged ends, extends the life of your color, and adds “oomph of instant texture and volume.”  Not to mention, Arrojo Dry Shampoo is invisible, there are no white powder marks when using.

Arrojo also carries curl control, cream wax, curl enhancer, defrizz serum, detangling foam, frizz control, hair crème, hair gel, hydro mist, pomade, protective thickening lotion, set & style spray, styling crème, styling whip, texture paste, volume foam, PrIMP working spray, holding spray, shine spray and a variety of tools to assist styling your hair.

Arrojo products have a range of products that cleanse, condition, style, and finish hair in a healthy way. No matter what hair type you have, Arrojo products are designed to work with and compliment the hair. When using products that are designed to treat the issue beneath the hair, hair will look its best. Arrojo products are designed to do this, fabulously.

Not only are their products free of unwanted chemicals, but they are not tested on animals. The results of hair used with Arrojo products speak for itself.
