How to Fill in Your Eyebrows

Those who have thinner or blonde hair may find themselves pining over eyebrows like the ones on Angelina Jolie. How to Fill In Your Eyebrows, Scizzors, Shrewsbury, MAThin brows can also be caused by over-plucking, when the hair follicles are damaged and then never grow back. Fortunately, there are ways to make your eyebrows appear fuller than they really are.

Depending on the look you want, you will want to use either an eyebrow powder or a pencil. A powder (which you can easily substitute with eye shadow) will give you more natural-looking eyebrows. The pencil will offer a more defined look. Whatever you do, never use black to fill in your eyebrows, even if you have black hair. Black is too harsh, are will make it obvious that your brows are drawn on. The general rule of thumb is to choose a color that is two shades lighter than your hair color. If you have blonde eyebrows, find a tan color, not a brown, or your eyebrows will also be too dramatic.

To begin, you will want to figure out the ideal shape of your eyebrows. To see where they should start, hold a brush vertically up against the side of your nose, and your eyebrow should begin along this same line. Then hold the brush at a 45 degree angle from the bottom of your nose, and this is where the eyebrow should end.

If you are using a pencil, line the bottom of the brow carefully. The neater the line, the better your brows will look, so be sure to use a freshly sharpened pencil. The top of your brow doesn’t need to be so clearly defined, since your brows are naturally less defined on top.

Fill in the brows by lightly drawing in lines that it mimic the shape of your eyebrow hairs. You do not want to simply draw on the brows, as this will look too heavy and fake. The darkest portion of your eyebrow should be the arch, so it can be helpful to begin with that section of the brow and work from there. Follow the natural shape of your eyebrow.

To soften the lines and make the brows look more natural, take a brow brush (or a clean mascara wand) and gently brush the brows to help blend the colors together.

To apply powder instead, use an angled brush. Tap the brush gently instead of swiping for careful application.

To finish, apply a bit of concealer under the brows to really define their shape. If you are dealing with wiry eyebrow hairs, you may want to brush on some brow gel to keep the hairs in place.
